Child Safety Statements and Policies

Child Safety

ECTARC is a Child Safe Organisation, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all children.

As an approved provider of 10 early childhood services, ECTARC is deeply committed to creating and maintaining child-safe environments across all training and assessment activities. We recognise the trust placed in us by families, services and students, and we uphold this responsibility through clear policies, respectful practices, and ongoing professional development.

All training and assessment involving children is conducted with the utmost care to protect their safety, privacy and dignity, and in accordance with the Guidance for training providers and Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services.

ECTARC Training Services (ETS) will never ask students to upload or submit photographs or videos of children for the purposes of assessment. ETS is also committed to ensuring all observations of personal care routines including hygiene, sleep and rest are never conducted online and only occur during scheduled face-to-face visits. Our Training and Development Officers (TDOs) will work closely with students and services to plan practicum placements that allow for safe and compliant in-person observation.

All TDOs use company-issued devices for training and assessment purposes. Personal devices are strictly prohibited when visiting services or handling student and child information. Any use of technology, including cameras, phones and online platforms, must be approved by the service prior to use.

Photography is only permitted when:

  • It is essential to the development of training and assessment resources, not assessment submissions
  • Written parental consent has been obtained in advance
  • The image does not depict personal care routines or sensitive activities.

Third-party reports used to verify student competency must be completed by a qualified supervisor who is a permanent employee of the service.

ECTARC Training Services has a Child Safety Officer for our RTO operations to ensure safe practices for our students under 18 and the children within the services that we visit. They also act as a single contact for children, parents and personnel seeking advice and support regarding the safety and wellbeing of children. Parental permission of students under the age of 18 will be sought prior to any online streaming for training and assessment purposes.

TDOs are required to complete accredited and non-accredited child safety training as part of their annual professional development. Our annual Return to Industry program also supports their vocational competence and understanding of child safe practices. ECTARC Training Services regularly reviews our practices and resources to ensure they reflect current standards, best practice, and uphold our ongoing commitment to both the safety and outcomes for children.
