Existing Worker Traineeship Care Sectors Pilot

This pilot program is funded by Training Services NSW under Smart & Skilled.  The pilot program is just one of Training Services NSW initiatives to address the critical shortage of qualified workers in early childhood education and care.

This funded training opportunity is for existing workers in early childhood education and care.  A person is classified as an existing worker trainee if they have been employed by their traineeship employer for

  • more than 3 months as a full-time, full-time equivalent part-time/casual, or a combination of these prior to the commencement of the traineeship;
  • for more than 12 months as a part-time or part-time equivalent casual employee prior to the commencement of the traineeship;
  • for more than 12 months in a combination of part-time, casual and full-time (or equivalent) employment prior to the commencement of the traineeship.

PLEASE NOTE: There are limited places across New South Wales for both qualifications.

Eligibility

The Existing Worker Traineeship Care Sector Pilot progam is available to:

  • those working in a early childhood education and care services. i.e. Not working in a home care/ family day care/out-of-school hours environment.
  • learners are employed full-time or part-time basis (not casual),
  • a learner that can be released for a minimum of 3 hours per week (with pay) off-the-floor to undertake formal training.


Qualifications available under the program

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

(Employees who already have a qualification (e.g. current or superseded qualification) at the same level in the nominated EWT vocation are not eligible for the pilot).


CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

(must hold a CHC30113 or CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care to be eligible for this qualification).

 

Commencement Dates

Certificate III training commencement period

12/12/2022 to 30/06/2023 and training must be completed by 31/12/2024

Diploma training commencement period

12/12/2022 to 30/06/2023 and training must be completed by 30/06/2025

 

How the program will be delivered

Training is provided via distance education with support and assessment visits in the workplace. At ECTARC we pride ourselves on the high level of support we provide to our trainees. Our trainees receive:

  • 24/7 access to online training and student portals (providing supplementary resources, a Trainer messaging service, facility to upload assessments, assessment results etc) so trainees are able to complete their studies at the service and home.
  • Guarantee of an ECTARC Training and Development Officer to speak to at all times during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and Tuesday nights until 7pm,
  • Email access to their personal ECTARC Training and Development Officer.
  • Directors, Nominated Supervisors and/or employers are supported and regularly updated throughout the traineeship on the progress of their trainee.
