Traineeship Early Childhood Worker – Full Time

Position Number 21/24
Location ECTARC Short Street Education and Care Service - Corrimal
Status Full time, Fixed term 18 months
Closing Date 19/04/2024
About the Service

ECTARC Short Street is 28 place occasional care service offering education and care to a diverse community. We are located approximately 10mins north of the Wollongong CBD in Corrimal. Located within the community precinct, we are surrounded by ample free parking and close to several community facilities including, Corrimal District Library and Community Centre.

Children are provided with opportunities to be actively involved in decision making, skill building, play and experimentation in a safe environment with an emphasis on play-based learning.  Educators use Circle of Security  practices to ensure children feel safe, supported and protected while also employing principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child which states that all children have the right to an education that lays a foundation for the rest of their lives, maximises their ability, and respects their family, cultural and other identities and languages.

We use our large, leafy, green outdoor garden and play area to offer a variety of gardening projects, focusing on lessening our carbon footprint while leading to a sustainable future.  Children and families can be involved in community gardening projects, care for our native bees and watch for blue tongue lizards. Tiny hands and feet can wiggle in delight in the trickle of water in the creek bed, get excited by the discovery of tadpoles and say “hello” to the many friendly native birds who stop by most days.
