About the Service

ECTARC The Basin is a 40-place multifunction service offering both preschool and long day care programs for children from 2 years to school age.

We promote and provide daily opportunities for children to learn through play, to explore, be creative, investigate, problem solve, practise skills and be challenged.  We believe strongly in building genuine relationships with families as the most important step in teaching any child.  We promote and respect all cultures and family groups.  Located in Yuin Nation, we have a strong Aboriginal culture focus.

We have a strong connection with Sanctuary Point school.  Our children participate in transition to school visits to give children an effective transition from early childhood education to school education and familiarise children with the classrooms and the school environment.

We are an Early Start Centre, linked with Wollongong University, who provide our educators with up-to-date professional development and the latest research regarding early childhood education.

ECTARC The Basin is seeking an experienced early childhood teacher to provide leadership and to work as part of a passionate and capable team who are committed to enriching the futures of young children. As the early childhood teacher, you will deliver high-quality educational, innovative and inclusive programs for young children. You will also play an integral role in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with children families and the community. Working with/as the educational leader you will lead and support pedagogical practice in your room/across the service and engage in service planning to ensure best outcomes for young children.

Essential Criteria for Early Childhood Teacher:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education (or working towards)
  • NESA Early Childhood Teacher Accreditation.
  • A Working with Children Check clearance number.
  • Current approved first aid qualification for early education and care HLTAID004.
  • Completed an approved child protection Statement of Attainment.
  • Demonstrated ability within the role of Responsible Person.
  • Demonstrated professional level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of leadership and leading at team successfully.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current early childhood theories and practice & children’s services legislation.
  • Demonstrated high level of ethical and professional behaviour including collaboration & confidentiality.
  • A commitment to practicing ECTARC values every day.
  • Strong commitment to your own professional learning.

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent
  • A Working with Children Check clearance number
  • Current approved first aid qualification for early education and care HLTAID004
  • Completed an approved child protection Statement of Attainment
  • Experience working in early childhood services
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake the role of Responsible Person on Duty
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current early childhood theories and practice & children’s services legislation
  • Demonstrated high level of ethical and professional behaviour, including collaboration and confidentiality
  • A commitment to practicing ECTARC values every day
