About the Service

ECTARC Sanctuary Point is a 40-place service providing early childhood education and care for children from birth to school age in Sanctuary Point on the shores of St. Georges Basin. We are only a short drive from Jervis Bay and the coastal villages of Huskisson and Vincentia and are ideally located within walking distance of many local facilities such as shops, library, a bike park, and Sanctuary Point Public School. 

We provide quality education and care for many families located in our surrounding towns and we have a strong commitment to providing a smooth transition to primary school, ensuring a continuity of learning for each child.  We are always warm, friendly, and welcoming and boast a strong connection within our community, seen in the beautiful relationships we build with our families.  We value each family’s uniqueness and enjoy spending time with them to get to know them to help us provide an environment that is happy, secure, and meaningful.

Learning environments are purposely designed to support quality teaching and learning experiences that foster each child’s development. ECTARC Sanctuary Point has an extensive outdoor environment which has been recently upgraded and includes a dry creek bed, terraced gardens for exploring nature and plenty open space for running, ball games and riding bikes. Within the outdoor environment there is a dedicated play space for the younger children birth to five years.

About the Role

ECTARC Sanctuary Point is seeking an experienced educator who holds a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care to work as part of a passionate and capable team committed to enriching the futures of young children. In collaboration with others, you will plan and implement high-quality educational, innovative, and inclusive programs, whilst also establishing relationships with families to ensure best outcomes for young children.

An educator’s role is very rewarding, providing children with the best possible start for lifelong learning. You will be working with a dedicated team, families, and the local school and community, including a range of external stakeholders to provide optimum education and care outcomes for young children.

Originally known as Illawarra Area Child Care (IACC) our organisation was incorporated in October 1985 and have a proud history of providing optimum education and training services.

Essential Criteria:

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • A Working with Children Check clearance number
  • Current approved first aid qualification for early education and care – HLTAID004
  • Completed an approved child protection Statement of Attainment
  • Experience working in early childhood services
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake the role of Responsible Person on Duty
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current early childhood theories and practice & children’s services legislation
  • Demonstrated high level of ethical and professional behaviour, including collaboration and confidentiality
  • A commitment to practicing ECTARC values every day
  • Strong commitment to your own professional learning

Desirable Criteria:

  • ECTARC employees are vaccinated for COVID-19 and are strongly encouraged to obtain an available booster dose as they become available

At ECTARC we pay highly competitive salaries above the award rate in accordance with the policies and procedures of ECTARC.

Course fees are covered

A bonus $1250.00 paid to you every six months throughout your traineeship

Three hours paid study time off the floor each week

Mentoring and support from a dedicated Educator in your team and trainee study groups with an experienced Early Childhood Coordinator.

We have a comprehensive induction process and a dedicated wellbeing program to support you and your family.
