About the Service

Warilla Education and Care Service is a 28 place service which is managed by ECTARC on behalf of the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre. Our service is located in the heart of Warilla, nestled amongst local community services. We offer both occasional and emergency care (charged at an hourly rate), and permanent regular positions for children aged between birth – 5 years of age.

Our educators build secure attachments with the children & families enrolled in the service that support children to feel safe, secure and valued.  The service is inclusive to all children and families and are sensitive to & respectful of promoting a greater understanding of Australia’s Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cultures.   Educators value play in encouraging children’s learning, thinking, imagination, & communication; & understand how important play is for children to develop trust & form friendships with peers.

Warilla Education and Care Service implements the Positive Partnerships project, a funded program through Communities for Children Shellharbour.  Through the program the service employs a Child and Family Practitioner, whose role is to provide support for families and their parenting. The service also works closely with a multidisciplinary team (Occupational Therapist and Psychologist) from Noah’s Inclusion Service who visit weekly. They support the developmental needs of children’s by working alongside educators, building their capacity to ensure children’s everyday learning environments are optimal.  

About the Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced and innovative teacher who is looking to develop leadership and management skills to lead a great service.  The Director will participate in an extensive leadership program, learning to lead with impact. 

The role requires a leader who can establish and nuture strong relationships with the team, children and their families and the wider community including Aboriginal Elders, schools, other early childhood and family organisations.

You will be supported by an experienced Early Childhood Coordinator and a network of Management and Directors. 

The director’s role is very rewarding. As the director you will be working with educators, families, local community and a range of external stakeholders to provide optimum education and care outcomes for young children. Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Early Education and Care
  • NESA Early Childhood Teacher Accreditation
  • A Working with Children Check clearance number
  • Current approved first aid qualification for early education and care HLTAID004
  • Completed an approved child protection Statement of Attainment
  • Minimum 5 years experience in early childhood
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake the role of Nominated Supervisor
  • Demonstrated professional level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current early childhood theories and practice & children’s services legislation
  • Demonstrated high level of ethical and professional behaviour including collaboration and confidentiality
  • A commitment to practicing ECTARC values every day
  • A strong commitment to your own professional learning

Desirable Criteria:

  • ECTARC employees are vaccinated for COVID-19 and are strongly encouraged to obtain an available booster dose as they become available.
