ECTARC Keiraview Education and Care Service
ECTARC Keiraview Early Education and Care Service is located in the Wollongong CBD nestled at the end a quiet cul-de-sac featuring a uniquely large, natural outdoor play space. Our central location and extended opening hours are convenient for many of the families who access the service from across the Illawarra as they work or study nearby. ECTARC Keiraview is a 45-place service for children from birth to school age.
Our vision at Keiraview is to ensure that our community feels a sense of belonging, being and becoming and that we provide high quality education and care to all children. This can be seen in our everyday practice as we respect the rights of the child and instil a sense of wonder in a play-based learning environment. We value our families as the children’s first educators and encourage them, and welcome local community members to contribute to our program, helping to develop collaborative partnerships. We encourage our families to become involved with all aspects of the service. Families and community members are invited to welcome orientations, transition to school evenings, celebrations of important events in their lives and to contribute any skills or talents towards our service.
At ECTARC Keiraview our principles and practices are reflective of an inclusive curriculum encompassing all children, families, educators and the wider community. In accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) we value a holistic approach to each child’s individual learning journey. Our varied learning environments are purposely designed to support teaching and learning experiences that foster each child’s individuality and development . Each child’s learning journey, our daily programs and routines are easily accessible to families through a our digitally based Storypark app.
ECTARC Keiraview has two learning rooms: our Early Learning room for children birth to 3 years and our Preschool room for children 3 to school age. Our beautiful environments span across three large outdoor areas and two playrooms purposefully designed to accommodate children’s developmental needs. Opportunities to engage in indoor and outdoor play is supported within our daily programs with children moving freely between both environments, based on their needs and interests. With a strong focus on providing natural and versatile play spaces, the children are invited to explore our bike track, mud kitchen and water pump, sandpit and garden area. Our loose parts play philosophy is embedded throughout our program, providing children with endless creative play opportunities to problem solve, connect to the world around them and build strong social connections with educators and peers. Large trees provide homes for our prolific birdlife and shaded areas throughout our yard. Our verandahs create further opportunities for outdoor play, learning and dining. Daily small group experiences led by key educators create intentional teaching moments and supports children’s school readiness reflecting our key goal to create a lifelong love of learning, preparing children for their transition to school and beyond.
Child safety is the paramount consideration for all we do at ECTARC Keiraview and underpins all of our practices and decisions. Children’s rights are upheld and respected, with their voices being heard in regards to their needs, interests and values. We recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing for young children and are a Be You learning community, helping children achieve their best possible mental health outcomes. The Circle of Security approach is embedded at the service, supporting children to feel, safe, secure and respected with strong relationships between children, families and community our highest priority.
Established in 1987, ECTARC Keiraview is the longest running ECTARC early education and care service. Our passionate, experienced and skilled educators strive for a high standard of professionalism, regularly attending training to ensure they are up-to-date with current practices and standards in the Early Childhood sector. Our service is committed to ongoing self-assessment against the National Quality Standards to drive continuous improvement and improve the developmental and educational outcomes for young children. ECTARC Keiraview underwent assessment and rating in September 2023 when we were pleased to receive an Exceeding outcome.
